Overall, the anthology was a bit disappointing after I finished J.D. Robb’s story. All of the stories has a theme of lost, lost time, lost self, lost in paradise, and lost love. Below, my review will provide more to the story than the summaries given in the book blurb, so be warned of Spoilers ahead.

Missing In Death by J.D. Robb – ★★★★★

    Another Wonderful novel in the In-Death series, with a great mystery and my favorite characters of Roarke and Eve. In this story, a female tourist disappears off a ferry, but where is she? And how can a murder take place with so many people aboard. It was very interesting mystery as usual, which tends to be Robb’s style. I love the conversations between Peabody and Eve and it provides a little comic relief in the middle of murder and mayhem. Of course, if anyone has read the series, nothing beats the interaction between Eve and Roarke. Their best interaction is when they are at odds with each other and in their moral compass, as this story deals with.

For anyone reading this book, it is definitely better to read the previous books in the series, as there are mentions of cases and references to earlier books and if you don’t know it, the current book won’t bring as much enjoyment.

The Dog Days of Laurie Summer by Patricia Gaffney – ★★

    Laurie Summer has everything, a loving husband, Sam and a sweetheart of a son named Benny, a great career, and they have just bought a cabin by the lake of her husband’s dream that he wants to renovate, until she drowns and ends up in a coma. Laurie can hear, but is unable to communicate with anyone that she is cognizant until she finds her consciousness in a dog, who happened to get hit by Sam and she ends up as Benny’s dog. This was an interesting concept, where Laurie as a dog and sees everything from a dog’s perspective and her own behavior as a dog. Even though it is never really explained, why she came back as a dog and how she got back in her body. Although it was interesting, I was bored really fast. There was some good moments, where Laurie realizes that although relationships in her life are good, but it could have been great. But after that, there was not much of the story, since Laurie is trying to find her way back into her own body, but it was pretty uninteresting to me.

Lost in Paradise by Mary Bleyney – ★

    This book also had an interesting concept, but was badly executed. The story starts off with our heroine, Isabelle on a boat heading toward a Caribbean island to provide medical assistance to its native population, when there is a storm and the priest bringing her to the island tells her of the curse on the island that only she can save the man who is trapped on the island. That part is the interesting concept, I love curses and how the main characters overcome with the power of love. In this already short story, the hero and the heroine didn’t spend much time together, but they seem to be in love with each other even though the hero is a jerk most of the time. The healer on the island who is supposed to keep the curse going, but there is no good reason is that why she keeps the curse going and just as easily the curse is broken with not much sense. The ending was abrupt and didn’t make sense as to how the curse conveniently gone. The epilogue left more questions, because now that the curse was broken, and he could leave the island, what and where did he go, etc? It was a disappointing read.

Legacy by Ruth Ryan Langan – ★★★

    This story had some redeeming qualities. It was a good story, Aidan (who is the heroine), receives an invitation to travel to Ireland because a man thinks that she is his lost granddaughter and that her grandmother was the love of his life that was taken away from him and he had been searching for them for years. Aidan who believes it couldn’t be her still travels to Ireland. She meets Cullen who believes her to be his granddaughter and Ross who is Cullen’s lawyer and like a son to him. I like how Cullen and Aidan were seeing the similarities in each other and where they could be related. The only reason, I didn’t give it higher stars is that Aidan and Ross fell in love so fast, but without spending much time together alone. I feel like they should have had more time together to actually “fall” in love.
